stranger 21; together with stranger 20 the “heinrich-heine” tram station, Düsseldorf (Germany), 18th of November, 2012
(continuation of "stranger 20)... the girl was laughing a little here and there and the boy was trying to focus on my eyes with his bloodshot ones, but they were fine with the idea of me taking a photo of them. before I’d probably never have thought that talking to complete strangers at 6am and asking them if I can take a photo of them while they are in this completely devastated state of mind and appearance after a long night whilst we’re standing somewhere at a metro-station and myself is sleepy … would feel so comfortable and heart-warming. after a while we had to get away from the hallway because “neither photo-taking nor cigarette-smoking is allowed down here” according to some security men, to which the guy murmured some funny comment which I found amusing in this moment but which I also unfortunately forgot. I remember I was repeating it a little in my head after I left and I’d find it funny over and over again.
but yes. It felt nice. morning time is usually either the time of the day as described as above, or where everyone is so focused on themselves, trying to get together what they lost at night, preparing for the day, thinking of things that need to be done or are waiting to be done … in this time of complete self-absorbed and self-concentrated thinking, a little chat with complete strangers can be up-lifting.
in the end it was just 6am and I felt as if I’d already lived enough for the day because no matter what would happen while its hours pass, nothing could shatter the content and happiness that this morning had achieved. I guess that was worth it.
